DETAILS:

One half-block west of Longwood Drive sits this elegant house built by Russell L. Blount, developer of several Walter Burley Griffin-designed residences on the nearby (and aptly named) Walter Burley Griffin Place. When the deal fell through with the client, Blount claimed the house for his family. Griffin was a top protégé of Frank Lloyd Wright, having joined his practice in 1901. His own commissions, however, evolved toward a less free flowing and more “contained” form contrasting vertical and horizontal elements. We see this expressed in the trim and roofline.
