CTA Skokie Shops

The Skokie Shops are CTA's heavy maintenance facility for the entire fleet of railcars on the "L" rapid transit system. All major repairs and overhauls are done at the Skokie facility. Since 1926, it's been located along the CTA Yellow Line (formerly Skokie Swift). The current 236,700-square-foot complex is primarily the result of late-1990s renovations that added an administrative building and state-of-the-art new facilities for inspection, painting, rewiring, rebuilding and more.
