The Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge

809 E. 42nd Pl.

DETAILS:

Prince Hall Freemasonry was established in the 18th century by and for African Americans who were not welcome in most Masonic organizations at the time. The Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Illinois, chartered 1867, is the supreme governing body for Prince Hall Freemasons in Illinois. Its current home, a commanding corner building of yellow Roman brick bearing the simple inscription "Freemasons Hall," was completed in 1895. It's been a hub of Masonic and community activity ever since. The building contains meeting rooms and banquet spaces as well as Carter Hall on the top floor—a lovely ceremonial and event space.
