Housing one of the oldest congregations in Oak Park, First United Methodist Church was built and designed by Tallmadge and Watson in 1923 in the English Gothic Revival style. The 80-foot-tall Memorial Tower honors World War I veterans. The sanctuary features a wood-paneled hammer beam truss ceiling, carved railings and hand-painted antique glass windows. The fully restored 1925 Skinner pipe organ includes 3,200 pipes in 44 ranks. The building was designated as an historic Oak Park Landmark in 2005.
