Built in 1927 as a hardware store, the Swedish American Museum bought the building in 1988 and has renovated it over time to showcase art and exhibits which explore the immigration of Swedes to the United States. A sturdy fiberglass replica of the iconic Swedish flag water tower was reinstalled atop the building in 2017.
