By The Hand Club For Kids

415 & 416 N. Laramie Ave.

DETAILS:

By The Hand Club For Kids is a faith-based, after-school program founded in 2001 to serve elementary through high school students in four of Chicago’s most under-resourced neighborhoods. It provides services such as tutoring, enrichment activities and spiritual guidance in a safe environment. This site includes a 24,000-square-foot, two-story after-school center on the east side of Laramie Avenue that serves nearly 300 children from neighborhood schools and a 52,000-square-foot, three-story facility across the street that serves 450 students attending Moving Everest Charter School and By The Hand after-school. These modern buildings are open for use by the community and neighborhood groups, in addition to the youth being served directly. The 415 North Laramie building is the proud recipient of the 2015 AIA Chicago Distinguished Building Award.
