Garfield Park
Great Lakes Yard
3410 W. Lake St.
DETAILS:
This isn’t your typical lumber yard. Newly relocated to restored early-20th Century bow-truss warehouse near the Garfield Park Conservatory, Great Lakes Yard is a specialized business and warehouse that sustainably salvages old growth lumber and architectural artifacts through deconstruction and demolition across the Great Lakes Region. These materials are resold to local builders, artisans, and homeowners, along with a range of goods and installations built by Great Lakes. The raw harvested material and one-of-a-kind pieces crafted onsite tell rich stories of the area’s centuries-old timber industry and the built history of Chicago homes and infrastructure. Through a partnership with neighboring Revolution Workshop, Great Lakes helps train community members for jobs in construction.
