Garfield Park
Garfield Park Conservatory
300 N. Central Park Ave.
DETAILS:
This calming space was the largest greenhouse in the world upon its completion. Landscape architect Jens Jensen designed it to emulate Midwestern haystacks. It remains a masterpiece of "landscape art under glass" with scenic interior vistas comprising meandering pathways, lagoons and exotic plants--planted not in pots, but directly into the ground. Today the conservatory inspires and educates visitors about the power of nature through innovative programs and special events.
