Ambassador Chicago Hotel

1301 N. State Pkwy.

DETAILS:

Upon its 1926 completion, the Ambassador was among the city’s first boutique hotels, and perhaps its most prominent. Over the years, the hotel has hosted a wide array of celebrities, including Frank Sinatra, Marilyn Monroe, David Bowie, Bill Murray and Harry Caray, many of whom ate at the hotel’s Pump Room Restaurant. Photos of these celebrity guests remain on view in the basement. Following a brief period when it was re-branded as the "Public Chicago," the Ambassador regained its historic name in 2017.
