Beverly
Christ the King Roman Catholic Church
9235 S. Hamilton Ave.
DETAILS:
The Midcentury Modern Christ the King Roman Catholic Church was completed in 1955. An architectural standout in the Beverly neighborhood, the church features a façade of clean cut limestone blocks and gridded windows. An expansive brass-framed stained glass piece welcomes all who enter and bathes the nave in boldly colored light. Interior details include intricately painted imagery of Christ the King, some of it intended to look, from a distance, like mosaic tile. A bronze crucifix hangs above the altar of rich marble.
