Downtown
Arc at Old Colony
37 W. Van Buren St.
DETAILS:
The 17-story Old Colony Building is one of Chicago's original skyscrapers. Characterized by circular turret-like corners and large curving windows, the Old Colony was the first tall building to use interior arches for structural bracing. After years in disrepair, the building was meticulously restored and converted into high-end student residences in 2015. It serves the surging number of students attending colleges nearby. Several interior spaces still showcase the charm of original building, including historic elevator lobbies, the second floor study lounge and the 17th floor. Perched on top is a rooftop oasis with 360-degree views and a casual club room.
