Oak Park
Grace Episcopal Church
924 Lake St.
DETAILS:
This Gothic Revival church is one of Oak Park's most outstanding treasures. The 11,000-square-foot brick and limestone nave opened in 1905, but work continued through 1967. The congregation was strict in its requirement that construction follow the 1898 blueprints, resulting in the near-perfect execution of the architect's vision. It’s a rare example of a structure that remained untouched by new architectural ideas in the years since its conception.
