RATIO|SMDP Architects
30 W. Monroe St., 5th Floor
DETAILS:
RATIO|smdp is an international, multidisciplinary practice of architects, planners and designers. The firm is motivated by a passion for design and the opportunity to act as thoughtful stewards of the built environment and the communities it serves. The new studio occupies the original office location of the modernist architects who designed the Inland Steel Building, Bruce Graham and Walter Netsch. It pays homage to the purity of their concept while providing a dynamic and light-filled environment that celebrates the creative ethos of the RATIO|smdp team. The 19-story Inland Steel Building was the first skyscraper to be built in the Loop after the Great Depression. Its column-free layout, glass and stainless steel exterior and separate service core make it an iconic building.
