Cards Against Humanity
1917 N. Elston Ave.
DETAILS:
An unassuming yellow brick building is home to one of Chicago’s most notable recent creative exports. A few strangely-worded signs might be the only clue that this building is headquarters for "the card game for horrible people." Cards Against Humanity has renovated the interior into exactly the kind of functional-but-quirky space that fanatic players of the game would expect. The skylit open-plan office is broken up by several large shipping containers, each of which contains an elaborately-themed meeting spaces, such as the Japanese Zen Room and Moroccan Room. Given the company’s roots in Chicago’s comedy community, it’s no surprise that the building also sports a small event and theater space that's perfect for stand-up shows.
