Soho House Chicago

113-125 N. Green St.

DETAILS:

This hotel and private membership club is one of several Soho House locations around the world, originating from London in 1995. The building was commissioned in 1907 by Milwaukee industrialist Charles Allis as the Chicago Belting Company factory. Today, a bar and restaurant named The Allis, located on the public ground floor, pay homage to the family who owned the company. Other spaces include a rooftop terrace with a 60-foot swimming pool, a screening room, a gymnasium with a boxing ring, a spa and several food and drink options. Renovations completed in 2014 by an in-house design team preserved the concrete industrial loft design with its ornamental flourishes, and added touches of Soho House's signature style. Elements of the building's past, such as fire safety glass and wooden planks, have been repurposed in the new design, which also showcases pieces from nearly 200 artists.
