Austin Town Hall Cultural Center

5610 W. Lake St.

DETAILS:

This large field house and cultural center sits within a 3-acre park on the site of the former town hall for the Village of Cicero, of which Austin was once a part. Explore the graceful Georgian Revival-style building by architects Michaelsen and Rognstad, which combines spaces for athletics and performance arts. The building was designed as a close replica of Philadelphia’s Independence Hall. Michaelsen and Rognstad were responsible for other notable park buildings in Chicago, including the Gold Dome Building in Garfield Park and elaborate field houses in Humboldt and Douglas Parks.
