The Penthouse Hyde Park

The Penthouse Hyde Park, with rooftop ballroom and open-air terrace located atop the former Piccadilly Hotel & Theatre, offers an air of refined elegance that nods to its 1920s roots. The north and east walls feature 20-foot arched windows that showcase skyline and lakefront views. Intricate crown molding has been restored to its original glory. The space has been outfitted with modern lighting and a sound system. From 1927 to 1963 the Piccadilly Theatre, designed by prolific theater architects Rapp & Rapp, operated within the 14-story Art Deco building—a rare Chicago example of a 2-in-1 movie house and residential building, more commonly found in New York. The theater portion was demolished in 1972, and the former hotel suites have recently been renovated into high-end apartments.
