Laugh Factory Chicago

Opened in 1915 as the 525-seat Lake Shore Theater, this small neighborhood movie house was eventually taken over by Balaban and Katz. It last operated as a movie theater in 2000, and in 2002 reopened as the Lakeshore Theatre, a popular venue for live comedy performances. The Lakeshore Theater closed in 2010, but was re-opened in November 2011 by The Laugh Factory, famous for its standup comedy talent. The main house & historic marquee were updated by The Laugh Factory, but the facade of the building as well as its historic lobby are still intact, and the lobby utilizes the original shadowboxes to showcase historic comedy memorabilia.
