One of the most magnificent war memorials in the world stands on Chicago's north side just across the street from Lincoln Park. It is the result of a design competition held by the American Institute of Architects to honor the 1,000+ members of the Order of Elks who made the ultimate sacrifice during WWI. Egerton Swartwout's winning design features the grandest domed rotunda in Chicago, stunning meeting rooms, monumental statuary, priceless artwork and the finest marbles from Greece, Austria, France, Belgium, Italy and the United States.
